Green & Black’s Organic Hazelnut & Currant

greenblackshazelnutAdding nuts to chocolate is a classic combination, as well as the addition of fruit to chocolate. So why not combine all three? Green & Black’s Organic Hazelnut & Currant chocolate bar is tasty dark chocolate with the addition of crunchy, toasted hazelnuts and sweet currants.

Similar to Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut bar, Green & Black’s heightens this to a new level. In comparison, the pieces of hazelnuts and currants are smaller pieces rather than in whole size, but small pieces actually work perfectly in this case. Sitting at 60% dark chocolate, there is a nice richness, paired with a great texture of the chewy and sweet currants, and slight crunch from the roasted hazelnuts. It is full of flavor, and although at first I was hoping for a greater cacao content (after all, I’m a big fan of dark chocolate here), the 60% actually worked perfectly and matched this combination very well. If it was any darker, I think it would take away from the sweetness from the currants and minor hints of the roasted hazelnut. However, be careful. You may just unknowingly indulge in this entire bar in one sitting and be left with the wrapper. It’s just a word of caution, that’s all. But truly, there’s nothing wrong with that.
